Thai massages are performed on the floor on a mat. Client and practitioner are dressed in comfortable clothing allowing ease of movement and flexibility. No oils or creams are used. The practitioner guides the recipient through a series of yoga postures and gentle stretching while palming and thumbing along the body’s “sen” (energy lines) and pressure points. This relieves muscular tension, increases circulation and balances the body by unblocking, energizing and dispersing energy. Together these actions result in a comprehensive full body treatment that boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.
“Swedish Massage” refers to techniques designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Kneading, stroking, friction, tapping, and vibration and provide relief from stiffness, numbness, pain, depression and fatigue. Swedish massage increases oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins from muscles. Benefits include stimulation of circulation, increase in muscle tone, and a balance of the musculo-skeletal systems. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes.
